This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead Product Designer / User Experience / Usability Analytics based in United States.
This is a senior UX research leadership role focused on shaping digital experiences across web, mobile, in-store technologies, and emerging AI-enabled touchpoints. You will lead high-impact research from discovery through actionable recommendations, influencing product and design strategy across complex initiatives. The role combines rigorous qualitative research with quantitative and behavioral insights to uncover meaningful user needs. You will help evolve research practices through responsible AI-enabled tools while protecting participant trust, privacy, and data integrity. As a strategic thought partner, you will work closely with designers, developers, executives, and other cross-functional stakeholders. You will also mentor peers, advance research methodologies, and help build scalable knowledge-sharing practices across the organization.
Accountabilities
• Lead complex, high-impact UX and product research initiatives end-to-end, selecting appropriate methodologies based on research objectives and business needs.
• Conduct foundational and evaluative research across web, mobile, omnichannel, in-store, and emerging digital experiences to inform product and design strategy.
• Analyze qualitative research—including usability testing, interviews, participatory design, and heuristic evaluations—alongside quantitative and behavioral data.
• Translate research findings into clear, actionable insights and design recommendations that influence product decisions and improve user experiences.
• Identify recurring signals and patterns across studies to uncover broader opportunities, strategic themes, and connections between projects.
• Communicate research through compelling storytelling tailored to audiences ranging from technical teams to senior executives.
• Apply approved AI tools to accelerate study preparation, analysis, synthesis, desk research, survey development, and reporting while maintaining researcher judgment and methodological rigor.
• Design and evaluate AI-powered experiences, including conversational, personalized, and agentic products, with particular attention to usability, trust, transparency, and actual user behavior.
• Support responsible AI research practices by appropriately handling participant information, recognizing model limitations and bias, and validating AI-generated outputs before they influence decisions.
• Maintain and improve searchable research repositories and knowledge bases so previous findings can be easily discovered, reused, and connected to product, design, and engineering workflows.
• Act as a strategic thought partner in discovery, problem framing, and product strategy while bringing clarity to ambiguous or evolving priorities.
• Mentor researchers and designers, raise standards for research quality, and help the team adopt effective emerging methods and AI-enabled practices.
• Contribute to internal thought leadership, case studies, learning materials, digital transformation initiatives, networking activities, and professional practice communities.
Requirements
• 5–8+ years of experience in UX research, product research, usability research, or a related discipline, with demonstrated experience influencing product and cross-functional strategy.
• A portfolio demonstrating strong digital product research experience across mobile, web, omnichannel, or comparable digital experiences.
• Proven ability to independently lead complex research initiatives from planning and study design through analysis, synthesis, and strategic recommendations.
• Practical experience with research tools, AI-enabled research workflows, or emerging methodologies that improve research quality, efficiency, or impact.
• Strong qualitative research expertise, including usability testing, user interviews, participatory design, heuristic evaluation, and synthesis of diverse data sources.
• Ability to combine qualitative findings with quantitative and behavioral signals to produce well-supported insights.
• Strong communication, storytelling, facilitation, and presentation skills, with the ability to make complex research understandable and actionable for varied audiences.
• Experience researching or evaluating AI-driven experiences, with an understanding of usability, trust, transparency, responsible AI, data privacy, and model limitations.
• Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments, manage multiple priorities, and adapt research approaches as project needs evolve.
• Demonstrated mentoring and leadership capabilities, with a collaborative approach to raising research and design standards.
• Strong client-service orientation and the ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders across different levels of technical expertise.
