About this role
About the Role
This is a senior individual contributor role on a small integrations team, building the backend services powering a cold-chain risk-management platform that protects pharmaceutical and perishable shipments worldwide. You will own data-heavy distributed systems that contextualize IoT monitoring data and quantify shipment risk in real time, working closely with leadership at a growth-stage company where your contributions ship fast and carry genuine impact.
What You'll Do
• Design and build backend services for a logistics orchestration and decision-intelligence platform.
• Own end-to-end partner data flows, from multi-vendor ingestion and normalization through warehousing, observability, and on-call support.
• Build and maintain external partner-facing operational integrations across APIs, webhooks, queues, carriers, sensors, and third-party vendors.
• Develop predictive systems for on-time, in-full (OTIF) performance and automate exception-handling workflows.
• Design and operate event-driven architectures using messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Deploy and operate containerized services on cloud infrastructure, maintaining high reliability for production workloads.
What We're Looking For
• 5 or more years of backend engineering experience building scalable, data-intensive distributed systems.
• Hands-on proficiency in Python and TypeScript/Node.js; strong Java experience is a plus.
• Proven ownership of external partner-facing operational data integrations, not primarily internal platform, DevOps, or ETL-only work.
• Experience with IoT data ingestion, processing, and contextualization.
• Strong proficiency with relational databases and data modeling (SQL); familiarity with NoSQL databases is a plus.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar).
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
• Experience deploying and operating services on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Solid grasp of API design, including REST and/or gRPC.
• Strong engineering practices: testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and observability.
• Ability to operate independently and take full ownership in a small team setting.
• Background in logistics, supply chain, cold chain, or IoT-focused products is a strong plus.
• Prior experience at a growth-stage or Series A company is a plus.
