This role is a key opportunity to own the web analytics and tracking infrastructure behind performance marketing campaigns for education and mission-driven organizations. You will ensure that every click, conversion, and customer interaction is captured accurately across websites, advertising platforms, analytics tools, and CRM systems. Working within a distributed Data & Analytics team, you will combine technical tracking expertise with analytical problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration. You will design and maintain Google Tag Manager implementations, conversion tracking, pixels, data layers, and privacy-focused measurement solutions. Your work will directly influence the reliability of campaign reporting and the ability of clients to make confident, data-driven decisions. The role offers meaningful ownership in a scaling environment where improving measurement quality can have a visible impact on marketing performance and organizational growth.
Accountabilities:
• Own the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of pixels, tags, scripts, triggers, variables, and data layers through Google Tag Manager across multiple client environments.
• Manage GTM container structures using native templates and Custom HTML, and implement server-side tagging where it can improve measurement accuracy, reliability, and long-term tracking durability.
• Partner with web and technical teams to build and maintain data layers and ensure websites and landing pages are properly instrumented before campaigns go live.
• Implement and troubleshoot conversion tracking across major paid advertising platforms, including Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, LinkedIn, and Snapchat, using browser pixels and Conversion APIs (CAPI).
• Configure standard and custom conversion events such as leads, applications, and inquiries, ensuring accurate reporting and effective campaign optimization.
• Configure and maintain GA4 event tracking and key events, following the customer journey from ad interaction and website activity through form submission and CRM entry.
• Conduct regular audits and troubleshoot broken tags, dropped events, tracking discrepancies, and inconsistencies between advertising platforms, GA4, and CRM systems.
• Use tools such as GTM Preview Mode, browser developer tools, platform Events Managers, and GA4 DebugView to validate implementations and resolve technical issues before launch.
• Manage cookie consent banners and consent mode configurations while keeping tracking implementations aligned with privacy requirements such as GDPR and CCPA.
• Monitor changes in browsers, advertising platforms, privacy regulations, and measurement technologies that may affect tracking performance and recommend appropriate adjustments.
• Maintain tagging plans, naming conventions, QA checklists, technical documentation, and other resources that enable internal teams to understand and trust the data.
• Translate business and campaign requirements from account, marketing, and client-facing teams into practical tracking solutions.
• Collaborate with Paid Media, Web Services, Data & Analytics, and other stakeholders to ensure measurement requirements are incorporated into campaigns and web projects.
Requirements
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in web analytics, digital tracking, tag management, or a related function, preferably within a marketing agency or performance marketing environment.
• Intermediate experience with Google Tag Manager, including container management, trigger and variable creation, data layer implementation, and troubleshooting.
• Practical experience planning, deploying, validating, and troubleshooting conversion tracking across major advertising platforms.
• Working knowledge of pixels and Conversion APIs (CAPI), particularly for Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
• Hands-on experience with GA4, including event configuration, key events, and DebugView.
• Comfortable working with HTML, CSS selectors, and basic JavaScript for troubleshooting tags and implementing custom scripts.
• Strong ability to use GTM Preview Mode and browser developer tools, including the Elements/Inspect and Network tabs, to diagnose tracking issues.
• Understanding of data privacy requirements such as GDPR and CCPA, as well as cookie consent and consent management practices.
• Ability to understand how tracking and measurement decisions affect paid media performance, attribution, reporting, and campaign optimization.
• Analytical and solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to investigate complex data discrepancies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical tracking concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly when managing tracking infrastructure across multiple client accounts.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams in a remote, asynchronous-friendly environment.
• Education marketing experience, including work with universities, online education programs, training organizations, or similar sectors, is highly valued.
• Curiosity about AI and emerging marketing technologies, with an interest in using AI or LLM tools to improve tracking audits, data-layer validation, troubleshooting, documentation, and measurement workflows.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted server-side tagging, conversion modeling, privacy-first measurement, or automated technical documentation is a plus.
