About this role
POSITION SUMMARY: The IT Disaster Recovery Continuity Analyst supports the organization's technology resilience program by ensuring critical applications, infrastructure, and operational systems can be recovered to meet business recovery objectives. The incumbent partners with business and technical stakeholders to document recovery requirements, assess risks, develop recovery procedures, coordinate testing, and validate recovery capabilities against established RTO and RPO targets. The IT Disaster Recovery Continuity Analyst acts as a bridge between business and IT teams, translating continuity requirements into actionable plans, testing strategies, and measurable outcomes. The incumbent also supports disaster recovery governance, application criticality assessments, dependency mapping, audit readiness, reporting, and process standardization to strengthen enterprise-wide operational continuity.

• Facilitate working sessions with application owners, business stakeholders, and infrastructure SMEs to identify, validate, and document end-to-end recovery processes.
• Develop and maintain DR runbooks, checklists, dependencies, sequencing, validation steps, and ownership details for assigned Republic Services applications and technology services.
• Analyze current-state recovery capabilities, risks, and gaps by application, and document recommendations to meet target-state objectives.
• Gather functional and non-functional requirements for DR process, tooling, and reporting improvements, including feasibility, dependency, and risk analysis for proposed initiatives.
• Plan and coordinate DR tabletop exercises, technical recovery tests, simulations, and failover/failback activities with application and infrastructure teams.
• Develop test objectives, scenarios, schedules, participant materials, and validation criteria appropriate to the application tier and recovery strategy.
• Document test results, lessons learned, gaps, and follow-up actions; track remediation through closure.
• Validate that runbooks and checklists are usable, current, and aligned with approved RTO and RPO requirements, including pre- and post-implementation reviews for DR-impacting changes.
• Support DR governance processes, standards, controls, review cycles, approval workflows, and audit activities, including runbook audits, evidence collection, and issue tracking with accountable owners.
• Partner with the Program Manager and DR leadership to manage a backlog of DR optimization, automation, and resiliency initiatives by application.
• Identify and recommend process, tooling, and standardization improvements that reduce manual effort, improve documentation quality, and strengthen recoverability.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with vendors, manage service providers, and implementation partners supporting recovery capabilities.
• Identify, design, and help implement automation, agentic workflows, and AI-enabled capabilities that reduce manual effort, increase throughput, improve consistency, and allow the DR program to scale effectively with existing resources.
• Evaluate opportunities to streamline recurring DR activities such as runbook updates, evidence collection, reporting, dependency analysis, action tracking, and stakeholder follow-up through automation and intelligent workflow orchestration.
• Partner with technology, data, cybersecurity, and governance teams to ensure automation and AI use cases are practical, controlled, measurable, and aligned with enterprise risk, compliance, and resiliency.
• Prepare status reports, ServiceNow or ITSM updates, and executive-level summaries covering progress, milestones, testing outcomes, risks, decisions, remediation status, and evidence readiness.
• Coordinate schedules, meetings, action items, dependencies, and knowledge transfer across business, application, infrastructure, security, and vendor teams.
• Communicate complex technical and recovery information clearly to technical, non-technical, and management audiences, and guide application and system owners in meeting DR documentation, testing, and lifecycle responsibilities.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Working knowledge of the IT Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity program lifecycle, including risk assessment, impact analysis, recovery planning, exercising, audit support, and continuous improvement.
• Experience eliciting, analyzing, documenting, and communicating business and technical requirements, including recovery dependencies, sequencing, data protection, and validation.
• Understanding recovery technologies such as high availability, backup and recovery, storage replication, Zerto, SQL Always On, and cloud services (SaaS/IaaS).
• Experience with data analysis and reporting tools; SQL knowledge beneficial.
• Strong analytical, organization, facilitation, documentation, and project coordination skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills across technical, non-technical, vendor, and management audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced IT environment.
• Experience with IT service management, GRC, or resiliency platforms used to manage workflows, evidence, dashboards, and remediation is preferred.
• Familiarity with recognized continuity, resilience, and risk-management standards is preferred.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• 2-4 years in disaster recovery, business continuity, IT risk, or business/technical analysis, including hands-on DR documentation, planning, testing, or exercise support.
• Experience working with IT infrastructure operations, application support, engineering, or production technology teams.
