About this role
Job Description:
At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Since 2011, we've tirelessly delivered on our promise to customers sending money globally, providing secure, simple, and reliable ways to manage their money, ensuring true peace of mind. Whether it's supporting loved ones back home, growing a business across continents, or pursuing new opportunities abroad, we're not just here to move money— we're here to move our global customers forward.
We're looking for builders, reimaginers, and global thinkers who want to work at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation. If that's you and you're ready to do the most meaningful work of your career—we invite you to join over 2,800 passionate Remitlians worldwide who are united by our vision to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders.
About the Role:
The Senior Data Analyst, Fraud (New Products) will be part of Remitly's Identity & Trust Analytics Team, reporting to the Senior Manager, Fraud Program and Analytics. As a senior individual contributor, you will own fraud analytics for Remitly's new financial products, including the Remitly Global Card and Store of Value (wallet balances). These products extend Remitly beyond cross-border transfers into everyday money management, which brings new fraud risks. Examples include card authorizations, account funding and direct deposits, balance movements, withdrawals, and access to credit. You will use data science and analytics to drive fast, rational decisions. You'll build fraud controls and measurement frameworks for products that are still taking shape, so that Remitly can grow them safely while keeping things smooth for legitimate customers. You'll partner closely with program managers, product managers, engineers, operations, and our card issuing and processing partners.
You Will:
• Own fraud analytics for the Remitly Global Card and Store of Value products, and develop long-term insights, KPIs, and prescriptive recommendations that shape fraud prevention strategy as these products launch and scale.
• Become an expert on Remitly's risk management systems, card and wallet product flows, and the fraud patterns unique to these products. These include account takeover, card-not-present fraud, first-party and credit abuse, funding and load abuse, money mule activity, and disputes and chargebacks.
• Build frameworks, grounded in the unit economics of the new products, that show how changes to fraud controls affect losses, approval rates, customer friction, activation, and growth.
• Own and evolve the metrics used to evaluate fraud performance across cards and stored value, including fraud loss rates, dispute and chargeback rates, authorization approval rates, and customer friction. Lead the development of durable Key Results with business partners.
• Partner with issuing processors and internal teams to design and tune real-time authorization, transaction monitoring, and account-level controls.
• Formulate hypotheses, design and evaluate experiments, and apply prediction, classification, and causal methods where they fit, while knowing when a simpler 80/20 approach is better.
• Set goals with program and product managers, bring forward the hypotheses and recommendations that inform new product roadmaps, and flag emerging fraud risks before launches and expansions into new markets.
• Build a shared understanding of how new product fraud data, customer experiences, and goals fit together with Remitly's broader Transaction Integrity program.
• Design and build end-to-end SQL pipelines and analysis-ready tables, represent fraud analytics needs in instrumentation discussions for new products, and lead efforts to close gaps in data coverage.
• Use AI tools and agentic workflows to speed up analysis, and propose and lead new techniques that raise the bar for the team.
• Give technical leadership to peers through code and analysis reviews, onboarding new hires, interviewing, and building mechanisms that improve the team's technical skills.
You Have:
• 5+ years of experience in a data analyst role or similar full-time professional experience.
• Experience in fraud, risk, trust & safety, fintech, or adversarial analytics strongly preferred.
• Experience with card issuing, debit, prepaid, or credit cards, digital wallets, or neobank products is a strong plus.
• Familiarity with card network rules, dispute and chargeback processes, or Reg E is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, engineering, economics, or another quantitative field (or equivalent additional experience).
• Advanced SQL proficiency, including building performant, well-documented pipelines, plus strong Python or R skills for data analysis is a plus.
• Expertise with statistical concepts (e.g., A/B testing, causal inference, probability theory, forecasting, classification) and how they apply in real-world fraud or risk contexts.
• Experience owning an analytics domain end to end: distilling business problems, developing hypotheses, building analytical frameworks, carrying out analyses, and driving clear recommendations to action.
• Strong data storytelling skills, including data visualization, narrative document writing, and adapting complex findings for technical and non-technical audiences.
• A track record of working independently in ambiguous, fast-changing problem spaces, prioritizing high-leverage work, and influencing partner roadmaps without direct authority.
• Experience mentoring or giving technical guidance to other analysts.
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools (e.g., LLM-assisted analysis, agentic workflows, or AI-powered tooling) to improve analytical speed and quality.
