Role Overview The PPE (Payments, Protection & Experience) Fraud team plays a critical role in protecting Coupang customers, sellers, and the business from fraudulent activities while maintaining a seamless customer experience. By leveraging data, analytics, and scalable data solutions, the team identifies fraud patterns, measures risk, and enables data-driven decision-making across Fraud Operations, Product, Engineering, and Risk stakeholders. This role combines strong business analytics capabilities with data engineering expertise. The position focuses on designing scalable data solutions, building and maintaining robust data pipelines, and delivering actionable insights that drive fraud prevention strategies and operational excellence. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable translating fraud-related business requirements into data solutions and developing reliable, efficient backend data systems that support risk management and fraud detection. What You Will Do • Business Partnership & Solution Design • Collaborate closely with Fraud Operations, Risk, Product, and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into data models, pipelines, dashboards, and analytical solutions. • Conduct deep-dive analyses to identify fraud patterns, loss drivers, operational inefficiencies, and emerging risk trends. • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders on strategic initiatives to investigate, prevent, and mitigate fraud-related challenges. • Develop fraud performance metrics and reporting frameworks to measure the effectiveness of fraud detection and prevention efforts. • Data Engineering & Pipeline Development • Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and datasets supporting fraud analytics, investigations, and risk decisioning. • Develop new data ingestion pipelines, including integrations with internal and external data sources using Python. • Ensure reliability of fraud data systems by monitoring pipelines, troubleshooting failures, and maintaining business-critical datasets. • Data Quality & Governance • Implement robust data quality monitoring and validation frameworks to ensure accuracy and consistency of fraud-related reporting. • Maintain and enhance core fraud and risk datasets to support operational and strategic decision-making. • Manage data lineage documentation and establish clear visibility into data sources, transformations, and downstream usage. • Performance Optimization • Optimize data processing workflows and warehouse performance through advanced SQL tuning and query optimization. • Continuously improve existing datasets, data infrastructure, and reporting tools to increase scalability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. • Identify automation opportunities to reduce manual processes and improve operational productivity. • Scalable Analytics Enablement • Build self-service dashboards and scalable reporting solutions that empower stakeholders to monitor fraud performance and key risk indicators. • Enable faster and more effective decision-making through automated reporting and analytical frameworks. • Support experimentation and measurement initiatives to evaluate fraud controls, policy changes, and product enhancements. • Continuous Improvement • Stay current with industry best practices, fraud detection methodologies, and emerging data technologies. • Proactively identify opportunities to strengthen fraud analytics capabilities, data infrastructure, and risk management processes.
