This role focuses on ensuring accurate and compliant payroll tax operations across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
You will manage tax filings, payments, reconciliations, notices, and year-end reporting for multiple clients.
The position combines detailed tax administration with analytical problem-solving and regulatory monitoring.
You will work with payroll systems and tax software while helping maintain accurate, up-to-date tax tables and records.
The role also provides opportunities to identify process improvements that strengthen efficiency and accuracy.
You’ll collaborate with employees, management, and internal teams in a deadline-driven environment.

Accountabilities
•
Ensure accurate calculation, reporting, and payment of federal, state, and local payroll taxes.
•
Prepare and file payroll tax returns, including Forms 941 and 940, state unemployment filings, and other applicable returns.
•
Process, reconcile, and monitor payroll tax payments to ensure they are accurate and submitted on time.
•
Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
•
Support internal and external tax audits by preparing schedules and providing appropriate documentation.
•
Monitor changes to payroll tax legislation and regulations and communicate relevant impacts and upcoming requirements.
•
Maintain payroll software and tax systems, ensuring tax tables and configurations reflect current regulations.
•
Assist with year-end reporting, including W-2s, 1099s, and other applicable payroll tax forms.
•
Investigate and resolve payroll tax questions and issues raised by employees and management.
•
Identify opportunities to improve payroll tax processes and systems, supporting greater efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
Requirements
•
2–4 years of experience in payroll tax compliance or a related field is preferred.
•
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred.
•
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements.
•
Proficiency with payroll systems and tax software.
•
Advanced Excel skills and the ability to work effectively with detailed financial and tax data.
•
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies and determine appropriate resolutions.
•
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy when handling tax calculations, filings, payments, and reconciliations.
•
Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with employees, management, and other stakeholders.
•
Strong time-management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and strict filing deadlines.
•
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
•
Proactive approach to identifying tax issues, regulatory changes, and opportunities for process improvement.
