Phase 11: Land the job
How to Get a Data Analyst Job: 8 Free Lessons
Turn your skills into offers: build a target list from real postings, search by the titles companies really use, filter for visa and remote eligibility, apply where it counts, and track your search as a funnel.
Level 4 turns the course on your own job search. You treat it like any other analysis: real postings as data, a clear question, honest filters, a funnel you measure, and a plan you review each week. Phase 07 prepared you for the interviews; this phase is about getting them.
The real numbers in this phase come from two places, each with its date: the monthly open data drop in data/job-market and Real Analyst Jobs data retrieved on 31 October 2026. Facts about the Real Analyst Jobs site itself were read on 31 October 2026 from /llms.txt and the pages each lesson names. Everything else is synthetic and says so. Every lesson runs offline on Python 3.9 or later with the standard library only.
This phase uses Real Analyst Jobs (https://realanalystjobs.com), the site whose open data the course already uses, as one source among several. It is not the only place to look, and the lessons say where LinkedIn, Indeed or a company's own careers page are better.

What you will be able to do
By the end of the phase you will have built and tested each of these yourself, one per lesson:
- Build a target list from real postings:
where_to_look: from the real drop, the countries with the most postings at your experience levels, with the share of labelled postings that are at your levels. - Search smarter: titles and synonyms:
normalise_title: cut the team name, expand abbreviations (Sr., BI, BIE, Ops, FP&A), drop level words. - Visa-aware search: H-1B, OPT and UK sponsors:
employer_key: one key for every spelling of one employer, without merging different employers. - Remote, really: where can you be hired from?:
named: the countries and regions a location line names, as whole phrases. - Apply where it counts:
freshness: days since first seen turned into a score from 1 to 0, with blank dates treated as stale. - Track your search as a funnel:
wilson: the 95% Wilson interval for k out of n. - Using Real Analyst Jobs in your search: A plain picture of what Real Analyst Jobs is, how its data is collected, and what it does not do.
- Capstone: a 30-day job search plan:
sponsorship_stated,red_flags,is_eligible,is_stale,title_familyandrole_key: the filters, one rule each.
