About this role

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Power BI Developer (Contract) based in India. As a Power BI Developer, you will contribute to an enterprise-level business intelligence modernization initiative, migrating reporting solutions from Domo to Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. You will analyze existing dashboards, datasets, calculations, and data models before rebuilding or optimizing them within a scalable Microsoft-based analytics environment. Working closely with a global Business Intelligence team, you will transform complex business requirements into reliable, high-performance reporting solutions. Your expertise in DAX, SQL, Power Query, and data modeling will help ensure accuracy, consistency, and efficiency throughout the migration. You will also troubleshoot technical challenges, strengthen data governance, and document key technical decisions. This remote, eight-month contractual opportunity is ideal for a hands-on BI professional seeking experience with modern data platforms and large-scale analytics transformation. Accountabilities • BI Platform Migration: Migrate, rebuild, and redesign existing Domo dashboards, reports, datasets, calculations, and business logic within Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Fabric, ensuring continuity and improved functionality. • Power BI Development: Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and reusable semantic models that support business intelligence and data-driven decision-making. • Data Modeling and Architecture: Build scalable data models using dimensional modeling principles, including star schemas, fact and dimension tables, data relationships, and semantic models. • DAX Development and Optimization: Create advanced DAX measures, calculations, and time-intelligence logic. Optimize filter context, calculations, and model performance to deliver efficient reporting experiences. • Data Transformation and Integration: Develop and maintain data transformation workflows using Power Query and M, supporting reliable data preparation, integration, and refresh processes. • Microsoft Fabric Implementation: Work with Microsoft Fabric capabilities, including OneLake, Lakehouse and Warehouse environments, Dataflows, pipelines, and semantic models, to support the migration and modernization of BI solutions. • Performance Optimization: Improve report responsiveness, semantic model efficiency, DAX execution, and data refresh performance across Power BI solutions. • Data Security and Governance: Configure data relationships, access controls, and Row-Level Security (RLS) to ensure appropriate and secure access to reporting data. • Data Validation and Quality Assurance: Compare migrated reports and calculations against existing Domo solutions, investigate discrepancies, and verify data accuracy, consistency, and reliability. • Troubleshooting and Continuous Improvement: Diagnose and resolve issues involving data quality, calculations, models, refresh operations, and reporting. Identify opportunities to simplify workflows and improve existing BI solutions. • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Business Intelligence colleagues and relevant stakeholders to understand existing business logic, clarify requirements, and deliver effective migration outcomes. • Technical Documentation: Document technical designs, business rules, data lineage, transformation logic, and migration decisions to support maintainability and knowledge sharing. Requirements • Professional Experience: Approximately 2–3 years of relevant experience in Power BI development, business intelligence, data analytics, or a related technical field. • Power BI Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service, including dashboard development, reporting, semantic modeling, and performance optimization. • Microsoft Fabric Knowledge: A good understanding of Microsoft Fabric and its core capabilities, including data engineering, storage, transformation, pipelines, and semantic models. • DAX Proficiency: Strong knowledge of DAX, including measures, filter context, time intelligence, calculation logic, and performance optimization techniques. • SQL and Power Query: Strong SQL skills and practical experience with Power Query and the M language for data extraction, transformation, preparation, and validation. • Data Modeling: Solid understanding of dimensional modeling, star-schema design, fact and dimension tables, relationships, and reusable semantic models. • Data Engineering Fundamentals: Understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data integration, refresh scheduling, data quality checks, and validation methodologies. • Analytical and Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to investigate complex data and reporting issues, identify root causes, validate results, and implement effective solutions. • Business Logic Translation: Ability to understand existing reporting systems and translate established calculations, requirements, and business rules into accurate and efficient Power BI solutions. • Independence and Accountability: A proactive, detail-oriented approach, with the ability to manage assigned tasks independently and deliver high-quality work within project timelines. • Communication and Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical colleagues and business stakeholders in a distributed team environment. • Preferred Migration Experience: Previous experience migrating dashboards, datasets, or reporting solutions between business intelligence platforms is an advantage. • Additional Technical Advantages: Familiarity with Domo, particularly Cards, Beast Mode, Magic ETL, and datasets, is beneficial. Experience with enterprise-scale Power BI or Microsoft Fabric implementations and an understanding of Medallion architecture are also desirable. • Global Team Experience: Expe
