The exceptions are loud. Vanguard's Junior Investment Data Analyst posting asked for 3 years, and a Data Analyst I role at Syneos Health asked for 2 to 4. On 9 October 2026 a Qode Advisors posting with Freshers in its title listed 1 to 2 years in its requirements.

Those postings are real, and they are 7% of junior postings. A more typical example: ISS STOXX's junior data analyst posting is open to fresh graduates, 0 to 2 years.

  • Apply to junior roles that ask for 1 year if you have internships, projects or a portfolio. The worst outcome is a no.
  • Read the requirements, not only the title. Most junior postings set no years at all.
  • Treat a junior posting that asks for 2 or more years as the exception it is (6 of 83), not the rule.
  • Sample: every analyst role on realanalystjobs.com whose title says Junior, Jr, Entry level, Graduate, New grad, Early career, Associate analyst or Analyst I, and does not say senior, lead, II, III or intern, with a job description. All countries on the board are included.
  • Dates: board snapshot of 6 October 2026; descriptions read from each role's page on 7 and 8 October 2026.
  • Exclusions: postings from the reposting sites Jobgether and Weekday were removed, and duplicates (same company and title) were removed, leaving 83 postings.
  • Classification: the first years-of-experience requirement in each description was read by pattern and checked by hand. Degree lengths, such as a four-year degree, are not counted as experience.
  • A small sample (83 postings), so treat the shares as a guide, not a census.
  • Title-based. Many entry-level roles do not say junior in the title, and they are not in this sample.
  • Only the first experience requirement in each description is counted; a posting can say more elsewhere.
  • It measures what postings ask for, not who gets hired.
